Homer Laughlin Fiestaware Price Guide

8 March 2009 26 Comments

Fiestaware was introduced in 1936 by the Homer Laughlin China Company. This is very colorful dinnerware. Fiestaware was redesigned in 1969 and was withdrawn from the market in 1973. Fiestaware was reissued in 1986 and still being produced today. These pieces where in different colors from the original line of Fiestaware. Fiestaware cups had full circle handles until 1969, when partial circle handles were introduced.

Below are few examples of Fiestaware back stamps:

Do you have a price on the yellow butter dishes, honey pot w/lid in yellow and the uncovered butter dish in yellow? And sugar bowl w/lid in cobalt? I also have two large chop plates? in an orange/red, but are not marked fiesta (my great aunt said that she got them at the fiesta factory as some type of special many years ago – she passed away in 1978 at 85, she collected many antiques and was quite knowledgable about them.) My aunt left me some rather unusual luncheon plates that might be HLC, but she never said. They are the same dark yellow as fiesta, but are a thin plate, hand-curled up at the sides and have a large, very large molded apple w/leaf sitting on one curled up side. Any ideas about these?

    Hello!
I am curious about “Fiestaware” that is sold on eBay with no backstamp–many sellers mention that it wouldn’t have any impact on the value of the item, but I’m skeptical. If the item has no stamp, does that mean it is a Fiestaware imposter?

    Thanks!
    Molly

  • Korin said:

    Hi Molly,

Fiestaware is one ofthe most reproduced collectible. The backstamp, marking, or signature always has an impact on the value of an item. If there is no backstamp it is hard to determine if the piece is genuine. The general rule I use as an antique appraiser is if it is not marked then it is not genuine. In some cases this rule does not apply. Not all items are marked for this you will need someone that specializes in that field to look at the item. All makers have distinctive characteristic that will help determine if the item is genuine. As far as buying online always use caution especially with glassware. There is a good chance it will be broken when shipped. I never suggest buying items on Ebay. The chance of getting sold a reproduction or fake is much higher. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at admin@antiques-prices.com

    @ Deborah,

With Fiestaware it is very hard to authenticate without seeing it and feeling it. I would advise contacting a Fiestaware specialist or taking your item to an auction house for a free valuation. Fiestaware is one of the most reproduced glassware makers in the world.

  • Korin said:

    @ Buddy,

I have a red/orange Bud Vase (in perfect condition) that has on the bottom:

    (Weird Symbol)
    Fiesta
    MADE IN USA

It has an unglazed bottom ring – what I’m assuming is a “dry foot.”

It doesn’t appear to be the “tangerine” color – it is a very very vibrant orange color….but seems to match the color described as “red.”

I’m reading conflicting information about bottom imprints…
Mine is not imprinted with any numbers…..could this still be authentic and if so what is an approximate price estimate?

    Thank you.

I have a 7 piece set of mixing bowls that are marked fiesta. They came from an estate. The biggest bowl is green then orange, blue, ivory, yellow, ivory and then orange. Can someone help me with a value. The ivory has a small chip. The rest are in great shape.

  • Korin said:

    @ Tasha,

The markings for Fiestaware can vary. Yes your vase can be an original Fiestaware piece. As for the value I would suggest using a local auction house. They will be able to tell you if it is an authentic piece of Fiestware and the value.

    Cheers,
    Korin

  • Korin said:

    @ Marsha,

I would also suggest using a auction house to help with the value of your Fiestaware. You can submit pictures to most any mid-size auction house and get a fair market value estimate.

    Cheers,
    Korin

I own a medium green Fiestaware teapot, which you appraise around $1,750. It is vintage and has the authentic HLC Fiesta Made in U.S.A. backstamp. I am looking to sell it, but I’m not sure how to go about doing that. It is in perfect, unused condition. Do you have any advice regarding how I should go about selling it to get the best price? Also, I’m not 100% sure about the color. It’s not dark green, but it’s not turquoise either. I’m guessing this is medium green? Thanks for your help!

I have a small gray juice pitcher. I know its a bit rare, but I was wondering if you knew anything about this one.

  • Jennifer said:

Hi, I have a set of glasses (clear glass) Some are tall and some are short juice glasses. They have little “rainbows” all over them in the coral, rose, white, light yellow and aqua colors. I know the rainbows are modeled after the rings in the Fiesta Pottery. When did these come out and what are they worth? I believe I have 6 of each size? I also have what I would call a carafe, clear glass with stripes around the bottom half in the same colors as the glasses. Stripes are about 1/3 inch wide each. Fiesta obviously does not call this a carafe as I can find NOTHING about these. It looks like carafes used for juice or wine, about 12-13 inches tall. These all have the fiesta name on them, and I don’t doubt their authenticity, I would just like to know their value, if higher than original. Thanks.

  • Korn said:

    @ Georgia ,

The best way to sell these items is at auction. Using an auction house that specializes in these types of items is always advised. As for the price this is just a estimated value. With all prices guides they go out of date rather quickly. They should be used as a guide only. There are many factors in the value of an item including condition of the market, where it is being sold, the condition of the item, and its demand vs availability.

    Cheers,
    Korin

Hello! I have recently received and entire set of fiestaware that my mother collected over a long time ago and she gave to me as a wedding gift to use as a down payment on a house. Tho I dont currently have pictures of the set she says it an entire complete set that she took like 15 years collecting. If I could provide a picture of the set woudl you be interested in purchasing it? I understand that the value would be affected by the age / quality of the items so once i have them in my possessuion I would be able to vouch for them better. If you are inteested at all please just email me and let me know thanks!

Hi! I have an red/orange platter that I thought was vintage Fiestaware, but I couldn’t find any information about a platter ever produced in that color. There are no visible markings on it. It was purchased at an estate auction that featured a large amount of Fiestaware about a year ago. I don’t think it is worth anything, but I couldn’t find any information about it anywhere and am just a little curious as to its origins. If anybody has any information or knows where I might find some information on it, I would appreciate it! Thank you!

I have thought about selling them, but I have no idea what to price each piece at. I have some of the accessories that go with it as well. Can you give me an idea how to seel them, and or how much can I sell the set for.

    Thank You,
